Choc City or Chocolate City is a well known music record label in Nigeria… Before Management & Contract turbulences, the label included artistes like M.I Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Brymo, Victoria Kimani, Coker, Dice Ailes, Ckay, Loose Kaynon, Milli, Pryse, etc. Dating back to 2008, the label can boast of various hits made in this country.
Let’s begin with Mr Incredible himself; He’s had bangers like Safe, Anoti, Action Film, Beef, Undisputed Champion, Chairman, Bad Belle, Lekki, and the most recent one Fix Up Your Lives, which was released back in 2017. Since then, he’s never had anymore hits.
Ice Prince; the king of swagz is also responsible for club bangers like Oleku, Aboki, Superstar, Big Daddy Ice, and the most recent one Yawa, featuring Peruzzi. Lately, people tend to call him Ice Water or Water Prince due to his inability to live up to people’s expectations about him.
Jesse Jagz who is M.I’s brother too is a prominent act in the Nigerian Music Industry. He’s had hits too like Nobody Test Me, Jago, Murda Dem, and so on. But where’s our Jago today? Has Peak milk and Hollandia taken over???
Same applies to Brymo too! He came, saw, conquered, then left. The recent signess like Coker, Ckay & Dice Ailes too are putting in work, but we don’t think their best is enough. Once they drop a hit song, they tend to go out of radar.
Is this a general problem? Because we noticed if there are too many artistes in a record label, they tend to rise and fall instantly…
