I Left EME With Zero Naira To My Name – Wizkid

Nigerian music international, Wizkid recently sat with Robert Bruce on Capital Xtra to discuss his music and a whole lot of other things. The Starboy was recently name amongst the top 100 most influential Africans this year.

Wizkid reminisced growing up in the Ghetto area of Ojuelegba in Surulere and making music about his place of birth. He shared the process that went in into making his classic ‘Ojuelegba’.

He also talked about this time at Banky W’s music imprint EME. The Starboy revealed that he left the label at the time with no money to his name even though he was a big shot already. ‘I left EME with zero Naira’, Wizkid told Bruce.

He also spoke about launching a music streaming app soon in collaboration with United Bank for Africa (UBA). He would also put on a talent hunt show to discover new music stars from across Africa. Again he said when everything is right his album would drop.
