Wizkid Breaks African Record On Spotify

Afropop super star, Ayodeji Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, has become the first African artiste to hit eight million listeners on Spotify’s monthly streams.

According to reports, the previous set record was held by Congolese rapper and singer, Maitre Gims who bagged over seven million monthly listeners.

This milestone comes after a series of hit songs the starboy was featured on.

Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl” which featured Wizkid was a huge success that further placed the singer on the internati onal spotlight. A couple of Nigerian acts such as Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Tekno and Yemi Alade were featured on Beyonce’s project but it was perceived that Wizkid aced his role on the album.

After that,Wizkid collaborated with DJ Spinall and Tiwa Savage on ‘Dis Love’. He also featured on ‘Like”, a new single by British-Ghanaian rapper and singer, Kojo Funds.

A big kudos to the Nigerian super star who has continued to make Nigeria proud.
