Lil Wayne Reveals Why Drake Wasn’t Featured On ‘Tha Carter V’

Famous rapper Lil Wayne has revealed why Drake was not in his new album ‘Tha Carter V’

The Young Money head honcho made this known during an interview with media veteran Elliot Wilson in his hometown of New Orleans – for the latest installment of TIDAL’s #CRWN interview series on Wednesday night, October 3.

The duo spoke about a range of topics including his strained relationship with Birdman and the long road to the release of the highly anticipated fifth installment of Tha Carter series.

When asked why Drake wasn’t featured on the album he said it was because of clearance issues.

“He had a song that didn’t get cleared,” he said while alluding to songs like “Believe Me” that were meant to be C5 singles. “People be tripping when they find out who it is or when they found out what the subject of the song is about. They don’t want that to represent their names. You really don’t know why they say no, but that’s my opinion.”

When speaking on XXXTentacion’s feature, he admitted that he didn’t even know who he was until he listened to the song and the idea to feature him came from Mack Maine.

He also discussed his “Mona Lisa” collaboration featuring Kendrick Lamar and reuniting with Swizz Beatz.

At one point, the Young Money CEO opened up about Birdman’s personal apology to him during a performance earlier this year.

“I was on stage, I was in performance mode, I was trying to remember the words. Somebody actually had to tell me, ‘Oh, he apologized to you onstage tonight,’” Wayne remembered.
