The Carter V release had been stalled for years over his dispute with Birdman’s Cash Money. Last June the lawsuit with Birdman was settle as Wayne’s contract ended and he was settled which gave him a free hand to drop his LP. The New Orleans rapper said the following about the project.
“I always give y’all all of me, but with this album, I’m giving you more than me,” said Wayne of the follow-up to 2011’s Tha Carter IV. “You gotta always remember that this is years of work. This is four, five, six years of work that you’ll be listening to. I hope you enjoy it. You don’t have to love it, you don’t even have to like it, just hope you enjoy it.”
