Jay Z Ventures Into Cannabis Business
American rapper, Shawn Carter, also known as Jay-Z joins Caliva, a San Jose, California-based cannabis company as Chief Brand Strategist to focus on social justice issues surrounding legalization.
The Rapper and business mogul who has amassed a net worth of $1 billion yesterday announced the new partnership with Caliva.
Caliva is said to be one of the largest cannabis companies that have a direct link to consumers.
“Anything I do, I want to do correctly and at the highest level,” said Jay-Z of the new partnership, “with all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva’s expertise and ethos makes them the best partner for this endeavor.”
In one of the company’s statement, a representative had this to say “As we continue our pursuit of being the most trusted name in cannabis, we’re not only interested in the impact we can have on the industry as whole, but also the social impact we can have beyond that,” says a representative from Caliva, “the social impact component of this partnership will be a key focus as we move forward.”
Mr. Carter is focused on increasing the economic participation of its citizens who just returned from prison through job training, advocacy and workforce development.
